it`s going to be close in the pop vote but the big states will still control the election. the problem is the house and senate. the good news is the house is going on vacation with many important bills not passed.one bill is the farm bill. with the farmers across the land between the mountains in deep trouble it is only fitting that the republicans now have to go back and be asked why they did`t vote for the farm bill.

there`s other bills that need to be passed but a 3 month vacation is more important

There are 10,000 Iowan farmers who have atleast one windmill.

It was universally panned as being completely out of touch with Iowa interests.

And stupid in general.

Also in North Carolina the Obama campaign launched a huge voter registration campaign, especially among Latino voters which HuffPo commented on the other day calling it their sleeping giant:

The state has added 30,000 people who self-identify as Hispanic voters to its rosters since 2008, according to N.C. Board of Elections data. While Hispanics represent only about 99,000 of 6.4 million registered voters in North Carolina, their ballots could be crucial in a state President Barack Obama won by about 14,000 votes in 2008.

Gary Johnson is on the NC ballot (47 states not incl Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Michigan - which are being contested).

In 2008, Libertarian candidate Bob Barr got more votes than the difference between McCain & Obama in NC.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/nc.htm

I've seen mixed results in New Mexico (Johnson was Governor there) where Johnson takes away from Obama in one poll and takes away from Romney in another poll. I've seen a Colorado poll where Johnson takes away from Obama. So in the west around NM where Johnson is better known, Johnson may help Romney a little. In all cases, it's marginal - a point or two - yet that can be meaningful in a tight battleground. But nationally, Johnson seems to be taking away from Romney which is why the GOP/Romney are the ones fighting to get his name off the ballot.

So NC may be tight but the polls typically have not considered Johnson & Goode (from nearby Virginia) who I expect will draw more votes in this election than 2008 - generally taking more away from Romney.

On Pollster.com, when you filter out the GOP finger-on-the-scale pollsters, looking at the last 60 days, the polls have Romney +0.6 in NC. I'd say it's the #1 tossup state in terms of how close it is (smallest lead for either candidate) given Johnson/Goode are likely to siphon some Romney votes.
