Boston University report hockey players’ “culture of sexual entitlement,”

I see college hasn't changed in the 25+ years i've been away.
Trigger alert

Atleast the problem is being talked about in the press.
Although it could have equally described the hockey and football teams at my School as well. Maybe there will be some progress at BU and other schools around the region.

hockey players, surrounded by adoring fans, had “the perception that they need not seek consent for sexual contact.”

1. “You don’t ask [permission for sex] when you are drunk,” and that would be rape.

One player came close to admitting that. “You don’t ask [permission for sex] when you are drunk,” he told the task force, adding that he did not see how the actions of the two players charged last year constituted sexual assault.

Another player used two slurs to describe women who “hook up with multiple guys,” then wondered, “What other word for them is there?”

i dont know guys, there are so many words we get to call women to denigrade, humiliate, or dehumanize them.

wow. so. they dont have to ask for sex, just take whom ever, and then call those "girls" names for having sex. no problem in our culture today, no siree. what are us women griping and whining about?

Another told of a Facebook posting “in which hockey players boast about their sexual exploits,” referring to conquests as “kills.”
boys being boys.

when women address these issues we are shouted down this is not our reality. granted, only by a few. so there is that. thank you for the article.

I think this mindset is growing in our culture, and not just with men, but women, too.

A female student told the task force that a player had shoved his hands down her pants at a party and refused to stop even as she was punching him. She did not report the incident to authorities because, she said, “that’s just what [BU hockey players] do.”

She's totally bought into the boys will be boys meme.

That's called RAPE, asshole.

How about... "women"?

I can't blame her, and it is a shame, but I get it. Honestly it took me years before I figured out this kind of behavior wasn't just something I had to "put up with" because I'm a woman. I thought it was just my lot in life.

5. The same thing you call GUYS who hook up with multiple WOMEN

Why WHY is it that women get called whores and sluts but men just chuckle when they're engaging in the same exact behavior? When will it end??

I read this article to a FEMALE co-worker. She said, "If you don't want to be man-handled by a bunch of drunken frat boys, then don't go to frat parties!" Yes! A WOMAN said that!

And I said, so those young women weren't victims of LEGITIMATE rape, right? They asked for it by showing up at a party???

This type of story makes me sad. We've come so far and yet we haven't.

7. you might want to ask the woman about standing in a bar and a cop off duty sticking his hand up her

skirt. if it is the womans fault for standing in the bar.... she made the mans hand go up her skirt? just standing there is all it takes for permission for a man to stick a hand up a skirt?

where does it end. standing in a subway give permission for a man to stick hand up skirt?

is she safe, locked in her home, not going out?
