colorado house takes up two more gun bills

hope this is appropriate to post here

DENVER - Proposals to change how people get concealed carry gun permits in Colorado and new restrictions on gun ownership for domestic-violence offenders will be up for consideration in the House.

The proposals scheduled for committee votes Thursday have already cleared the Senate.

Senate Bill 195 would require people seeking concealed carry permits to take gun training courses in person. People can currently take online courses.

Senate Bill 197 would require courts to order anyone subject to a domestic violence protection order or convicted of domestic violence to relinquish their guns within 24 hours. A judge could extend that to 72 hours. That bill also goes to the state House.

i think it is entirely appropriate that people with domestic violence convictions relinquish their guns. i swore it was like that here already, but it appears i was wrong. abusers have no business with guns.

Which is part of the reason I'm all for background checks, registration and licensing of guns as a package deal.

and sensible. If you want a CCW, then you should have to take the course in person given by a state certified instructor.

It's a no brainer to have someone with a order of protection against them or convicted of DA to have to relinquish their firearms.

coming to help with the gun violence problem here in Colorado.

Strawman purchases are another problem in need of a law that makes the strawman criminally, civilly and financially responsible for the devastation wrought on families by the wrongful death of a family member murdered by a gun in a strawman purchase.

It just came out last night that Evan Ebel, who murdered the pizza delivery employee and then the CO state prisons director, did so using a gun via a strawman purchase. The man they identified as the purchaser of the gun used to kill them imo is just as culpable as Ebel for their deaths.

Signed into law in CO. But it has to be in every state in the union to be effective.

With NO exceptions.

CO put in an amendment that background checks were not required for the transfer of inherited weapons.

it was a woman that did the straw purchase, that being said, CO. should charge her with being an accessory to murder as she knew he was barred from legally having a firearm.
If found guilty, throw her ass in prison for a long long time.

I don't either. But the burden of proof is on the prosecution.

The murderer was in a neo-Nazi prison gang. I imagine they'll be pretty tight lipped and will encourage any possible witnesses to do likewise........ if you know what I mean.
