But on a serious note GD really has fallen apart. Seems like Hillary hate has turned into a blood sport and that has merged with religion hate.

I see I made a list and it is not the good one I am told.

Just when the religious right is destroying the republicans, this gets ratched up to take down a sure Democratic winner. All in the name of anti-religion.

There is a strong puritan streak in so-called "progressives," which is why I refuse to identify myself as one.

Methodists have always had a strong orientation to the social gospel. One of the ministers of a local congregation was a former espartaco, a member of the Spartacus League in Mexico.

I see a few sources here being used against her that we would not allow for Sanders or Warren.

Clinton's politics, but her religious beliefs don't bother me in the least.

It is just another outrage of the day here at DU.

I don't read "Good Reads" often enough to know the hostility factor there, but would guess it's similar to the rest. The Lounge is borderline, partly because they do sometimes get to talk about ghost stories and the like without getting taken to task by the detractors.

I just skimmed the story in LBN about Pope Francis not supporting the use of recreational drugs. As with any other personally Liberal ideal/agenda, if the Pope isn't 100% in favor of it and all other ideals, then he isn't worth even 1% of support for all of the other good things he does.

I'm not a Christian, but I still like him and think he's making good progress. Some people on DU are just too stubborn for words, much less trying to exchange words with them...

1) They're petri dishes for misinformation.

2) They're pulled scabs that let the latent anti-religious bigotry ooze out.

And it's true for pretty much all discussion online, be it DU, or FB, or any group that gets together and the topic of religion/belief comes up. Some people simply do not wish to get along with anyone else.

There also seems to be a certain demand for instant gratification. Francis didn't fix every problem of the Church by his first weekend, so he's never going to, and he's a homophobic, misogynist, yadda yadda yadda (fill in the blanks) because he doesn't agree with wonderful ME about everything or get it done when I want it done! Waaaaahhh!

I thought most of us got over that by about age four.
