The scene where he takes her on a picnic was just too much stupid for me.

Frightfully, I've been to parties where some people are "participating" by Skype. Sometimes, going out with our young adult kids, it seems they spend more time chatting electronically with their significant others and friends than they do with us.

I'm sure "double dates" with one date not physically present have already happened many times in this modern world.

In any case maybe I've simply been overexposed to mutant/creature/space-war "science fiction" recently, and maybe I'd rather visit the future Los Angeles of "her," not "Elysium."

fascinated. It dragged in the middle but, my interest picked up toward then when the OS's developed their own autonomy. That was a quirky little twist that the protagonist should have seen coming.

He was just too self absorbed a character for me to root for/care about.

There was no arc in his development.

No vested interested in what happened to or with them.

While it has its flaws, it's a welcome bit of thinking science fiction with social extrapolations you have to look at. it's not an action shoot-em up with some touches on what the future would be. Phoenix gave a phenomenal performance in it. Still calling it my favorite film of 2014.

It is a really interesting film, Phoenix is an exceptional actor, ScarJo was phenomenal!, and the whole AI concept was very thought-provoking.

I thought it was going to be a relationship movie and it is unexpectedly so much more.
