"VERY IMPORTANT! First let me say I have a family member who is high level staff for the Bernie Sanders Campaign. I want you to know......Don't think for a minute that all of the work you all do through social media as well as volunteer is not making a difference I cannot believe the support Bernie has on this site and if you think your sharing posts and putting pressure on the media is not helping..,,think again, Often times.....I see things here on this site first. But eventually the media picks up on your comments, concerns and frustrations. They actual acknowledge his supporters i.e."YOU" when they speak in the news of your concerns. In past elections, we did not have the benefit of social media. We now do. And you are all doing a great job. We need to keep the pressure on the media to stop including super delegates in the reporting. We also need to keep putting pressure on the media to be transparent when they have pundits on their programs. Who do they work for, or who do they support? I just want to say you people are awesome on this site, and please continue to spread the word and keep pressure on those people we need to. It really does work and you are making a difference."
May I add that I have friends inside several news rooms, and they have said that ONE hand written letter has the weight of 100 emails. So if you want to amplify the impact of your message to the media 100 fold, WRITE THEM A LETTER AND MAIL IT! Our future is worth a few stamps!

(5,400 posts)The Lensman series by E.E. "Doc" Smith, and the telepaths of Alfred Bester's novels. Walter Koenig (Chekov, in the Star Trek series) played a telepath named "Bester" as a tribute.
I looked at the Lórien of Tolkien, and there are similarities enough to make me suspect a tip of the hat to Tolkien, by JMS.

(5,400 posts)Harlan Ellison has a cameo appearance in this episode. He's the Psi Cop Bester instructs to alter Garibaldi's personality.
Bester's parting salute to Garibaldi, "Be seeing you," is a reference to the 60s TV show "The Prisoner." Bester first used the salute in "Mind War."

Hard to make out in the video but his hand shapes the number 6, which also has significance to The Prisoner. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_Six_%28The_Prisoner%29
And yeah, Harlan Ellison was a creative consultant for the show.
P.S. Walter Koenig was also great friends with Mark Lenard, IIRC. Keeps a picture of him.
