Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumI am out of here y'all.
Well, since the floodgates were reopened the other day, I have received two bogus hides in two days. I don't intend to end up in 'Under Review' limbo, so I am leaving. And no place is safe from these swarms including this 'safe haven'. (hahaha!)
As a host of this group, I will respond to reported posts and the like, but I will not be posting anywhere on DU until at least after the general election. And frankly, I am not even certain then whether I will be back. If I do, I certainly will not be a star member or donate any further to this site.
The irony, which will be lost on many, is that the supposed minority victims are here and having a fine old time. But like Brother Ivan and Catherina, I am another minority Sanders supporter who is being forced to choose to leave or run off.
I don't walk on eggshells. I don't tolerate bullies. And as many of you are well aware, I am a passionate and very outspoken man. I was a member of DU in the early 2000's under a different email address & user name, but rarely posted. I became active and started posting under a new username (old email address was defunct) four years ago.
This site and its owners have revealed themselves to be extremely partisan and very neoliberal. As an independent progressive leftist, Clinton, this site, and its often rabid supporters have made it very clear that I am not welcome in this party or on these boards. If they drive enough of us away and burn enough bridges, the GE is not going to turn out well for the Democratic Party this year.
So after this thread my friends, if you wish to converse or read my musings (not that they are that noteworthy), I will only be at JPR and DI. At least at DI, the conservatives I am debating are honest Republicans and admitted rightists instead of the pseudo-conservative New Dems that are allowed to run free on this site. If they want an echo chamber, well they might just get one.
Good night and good luck!

(14,498 posts)There's going to be a massive realignment. ( i.e exodus). And DU will rival youtube as a site for serious political commentary.
That's the way they ---- site admins and owner(s) --- want it and so it shall be.
Clinton and Co. .... if successful.... will have lots of goodies to hand out. We all make choices and that ( i.e selling out) is the way some people choose to waste ( ooops. I mean "live" their lives.
So it goes.
See you further down the road.

(60,006 posts)it's all been quite disillusioning. I am thankful I have a great family and wonderful pets and interesting pursuits to keep me busy. Time not spent here will be focused on my gardening, writing, blogging, encouraging those who I am fortunate to speak to at events to dig in the dirt and grow great food.

(50,130 posts)During the Clinton years in the WH, I spent a lot of time at freerepublic protecting the Clintons until I was banned there, and then monitoring the place into the Bush years. The Bushies there exhibited the same kind of cult of personality. The tactics and hive mind were the same as we see here. It was poisonout. And there's a lot of that here, now. I'm a progressive and a Democrat. I don't like seeing the toxic behavior we face here every day.

(7,499 posts)This is a neoliberal DINO site and the fix is in for Bernie and his supporters. Bernie Sanders is the most ethical and honest candidate of my lifetime and offers the best hope for this country. I've been on DU for eight years and am appalled by the hard right turn this site has taken. There is nothing Democratic about Democratic Underground. It is disengenuious to masquerade as a Democratic website.
This post may get me banned, and I don't give a rat's ass; I'll be long gone by the time the hammer falls. This site is nothing more than a Clinton echo chamber - bought and paid for, and yes, I mean that, bought and paid for. I am so done with DU and the pathetic facade of it being a Democratic forum.
This is my last post here. I am taking my ethics and integrity elsewhere and committing my time, efforts and money to getting Bernie Sanders elected.
So long DU, and the corrupt DINO candidate you are trying to ram down our throats . I am out of here.

I know some of them are alerting on Bernie supporters like never before, especially after they start baiting threads.
But, they have no influence on the election.
Their agenda is to tear down DU simply because some of them were suspended
They admitted that on their special forum.
Nevertheless, regardless of what they say here or there, they have no influence on the election.
Some of them have already voted, and the election in the state they live in either wound up in a tie with Bernie, or Bernie won in that state.
So, their anger is not justified.

(23,867 posts)I was emotional, and got my first alert a few weeks ago. I've been here a while too. Right after the amnesty, I instantly noticed the same behavior from some individuals as I saw before. Of course I'm not innocent. But after they came back I'm not engaging at all. I feel justified to simply move on. I hate to lose your voice. That's what makes this so valuable. Whatever is right though.

(15,139 posts)Republican Above Ground -- this in the Bernie group -- and got alerted on. The result: 7-0 to keep it. Some Hillary supporters think these tactics are a good idea, but they do her no favors. They seem to be enraged that so many who post here have no interest in voting for a bought and paid for corporatist, so they try to silence us. Then they have the nerve to demand our loyalty. Good luck with that.

(9,497 posts)I felt my blood boiling and wishing harm to them and their children. I knew I had to get their ugly words out of my sight. It is like reading the comments on a Yahoo new article. This may alleviate the anger..
seriously, I want to vote for what would be best for the 99 percent in November, but I know if I read their words, I would never vote for her. Never. This is the only way I can even see a glimmer of a chance.
This Sunday, Bernie is in town and next Saturday I get to caucus! Yippee. I hope it isn't the last time I vote for someone with a D after their name.

(5,281 posts)totally lucid. But it's like pearls before swine. The owners of this site have clearly chosen to play this card and don't deserve our continued support and clicks. I guess they figure they don't need us any more either, so I understand your motives.
On the other hand, I am loving some of the push-back that I see here from progressives and still think it is valuable to have some articulate posters telling the truth for all those who read here but are politically unsophisticated and/or who simply lurk to become educated--especially during this primary season. DK has also shut down progressives and if we simply disappear from well-known sites it will be like the media shut out of Bernie's campaign.
So I'll probably stick around a little longer, but I'm not particularly adept at dealing with bullies. If Bernie doesn't become the nominee, I will find other things to do with my time and energy. Life is short and getting shorter.
If things settle down a bit I hope you will reconsider. Good luck and best wishes.
