Bernie Sanders says he値l campaign for Mid-Hudson congressional candidate Teachout

By Staff and wire reports

Excerpt:

In speaking with The Associated Press about House candidates for whom he’ll campaign, Sanders mentioned Teachout, the Democratic candidate in New York’s 19th Congressional District, and Pramila Jayapal, who is running in the state of Washington. No specific dates or locations for campaign were announced.

Teachout is running against Republican John Faso in the 19th District, which comprises all of Ulster, Greene and Columbia counties, most of Dutchess County and all or some of seven other counties. The winner will succeed U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson, R-Kinderhook, who opted not to seek a third two-year term.

Teachout is a Dutchess County resident and law school professor who ran against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a 2014 Democratic primary. Faso is a Columbia County resident and former minority leader of the state Assembly.

Speaking about the presidential race, Sanders on Wednesday urged those who backed his defeated bid for the Democratic nomination to not defect to the Green Party’s Jill Stein or Libertarian Gary Johnson.

“Politics is tough stuff, and you’ve got to make difficult choices,” Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont, said in an interview with The Associated Press. “To me, this was not a particularly difficult choice. Donald Trump would be a disaster for everything I believe in, and I think my supporters believe in.”

Sanders said Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, is “the worst candidate of a major political party in my lifetime.”

Speaking in his Burlington, Vt., office, Sanders said it also is important that Democrats regain control of the Senate.

“I think there’s a reasonable chance that that can happen,” he said. “I’ll be as active as I can.”

A retired vet who voted for cuts in HEAP/SNAP which affected Seniors in the area very severely. Also impacted many veterans. Zephyr would be a breath of fresh air.

Wondering if dropping back from Canova became part of a deal with Clinton... to save DWS' ass.
