Sen. Sanders expected to draw big crowd at Convention Center rally

US Senator Bernie Sanders is bringing his surging White House campaign to Massachusetts this weekend, where he could host the largest rally for a presidential primary candidate in recent state history.

Sanders, who is from Vermont and running as a Democrat, is scheduled to attend two events in the Bay State on Saturday. More than 1,000 people have said they will attend Sanders’ rally at Springfield’s MassMutual Center at 2 p.m, according to his campaign’s Facebook page.

Later that day, Sanders will address a rally at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center at 6 p.m. Also according to Facebook, more than 15,000 people have said they will attend.

The anticipated crowd count rivals the region’s recent primary record set by Barack Obama in 2007, when then-Governor Deval Patrick endorsed him on the Boston Common in front of a crowd of 10,000. Several months later, Hillary Clinton defeated Obama in the Massachusetts Democratic primary.

While I knew about this from facebook and DU, I have not heard anything about it on local TV. Not surprised.

Trivial Pursuit Note. In 2006, Patrick became the first African American Governor Elect of Massachusetts. David Axelrod ran his campaign.

I didn't grasp that until I was at our kid's school one day, and they had photos of the three in the office. That was an "oh wow" moment, in a good way of course.

In 201. only 8.1% Black.

Does not speak well for those who think all white Americans are racist in their voting.

Wait a minute...I keep being told that endorsements mean a candidate is utterly unstoppable and absolutely must win. So this part of the article can't possibly be correct!

Not finding it important to add the term socialist anywhere in the article. He's just a normal candidate like the rest.
