VP choices

Out of curiosity, who would you like to see as Bernie's VP choice?
I know many will say Elizabeth Warren (which would be good) but outside of her, who else would you like to see?

I'm going to say Dr Jill Green https://twitter.com/DrJillStein who would be a very refreshing choice and can hold her own big time. Much of her platform is VERY similar to Bernie's. I honestly hope if Bernie gets the nom, he'd look at her.

Jewish-Muslim presidential ticket represents hope for peace on earth.

3. I love Keith Ellison. I have even donated to his campaign before.

But, I feel too many American voters harbor anti Muslim sentiments. Not that their attitude is acceptable in any way. The anti-Muslim thing has been pounded into them since 9/11. About half the nation can't look at Muslim Americans objectively.

It would almost be worth it just for that.

That Jill commercial from the OP was really good though. Really well made. I think she would make a great vice president or cabinet member.

I had never heard of her until I clicked on your thread. She is amazing, what Bernie may lack (allegedly) she's got it in Spades!
How in Hell do I miss these things I do not know!
Thank you pinebox for introducing me to a very special person!

She's the Green Party nominee & I hope Bernie looks at her closely as a VP choice.
She is awesome!

Check this out! When Jill Stein debated Mitt Romney.

but Bernie all the way this cycle. Dr. Stein is very impressive and would be definitely be a good running mate or cabinet member for Bernie.
I will be watching and listening for more of Dr. Stein in the future.

9. I was a registered Green

for about 10 years. I felt the Democratic Party had left me behind - thank you fucking Third Wayers - (although not being into politics as much as some, I didn't even know they were the problem at the time). I never thought I'd leave the Dems. Probably lots of people on this board would burn me at the stake (metaphoricaly speaking) for heresy - to whom I say: Walk a mile in my moccasins, corporate sell-outs.

But then I got disenchanted with the Greens over time. I don't think they should have run Nader or run anyone for the presidency right away. Let people get to know you first. Get elected locally first. Anyway, the Greens didn't ask me for my opinion either. LOL
I figure they are going nowhere in this country in my lifetime.

I finally changed registration back to Dem. back in March, but in NY State a registration change doesn't take effect till after the next election - NOVEMBER 2015. We have closed primaries so I can vote for Bernie next year.

Just think how much better off they and the country would be if they had listened to us.
Thanks for sharing your story. Its nice to have a little background on fellow DUers.
I was born and raised to be Democrat but have voted all over the spectrum.
Thought I was conservative till Reagan but he made me "see the light" and I have never sided with the dark since.

she would agree to run with Sanders. Because purity. He might not be left wing enough for her, in which case: We'd have to try to remind her that the perfect is the enemy of the good.

Another obvious leftist would not advance Bernie's chances of winning the election.

we could hope..................

I think that the entire political process needs new blood and less families.

I'm hoping that with publicly funded elections the Greens can become a more active part of the political process....for the kind of problems the US and the planet faces, we need all ideas on the table.

18. Bernie's team needs to think in terms of a balanced ticket.

Do not forget that if he gets the nomination, he will then have to win the hearts of a majority of Americans and we know he is going to be fighting an uphill fight with the "socialist" label and expensive ads trying to make him look weird. We need to consider voters who are not just like us.

Balance might be a liberal/progressive, but not a socialist, who is:

Younger - 40s, 50s
From a western state (at least west of the Mississippi) or maybe a southern state
Extremely socially adept (Bernie is lovable but a bit of a wonk)
At least somewhat familiar to and respected by many Americans
Well vetted, no unpleasant surprises

Additional balance might be attained by finding a person of color or a woman or both. Given Bernie's unusual qualities, this could be a little dicey, depending on the person.

I don't who all fills that bill. I have thought of the Castro brothers, but at least one of them is already in the Hillary camp, probably looking for a Veep position. I thought of Wendy Davis but am not sure about her politics. There are probably lots of others to choose from but my working memory is not in great shape today.

19. Actually, Martin O'Malley might be a good VP for Bernie

He's younger, personable, experienced, good on most issues and would jump at the chance because it's a stepping-stone to the presidency. However, he's another white guy who is also from the northeast. I know that some Marylanders don't like him but don't know enough about Maryland politics to assess that. Anyway, a possibility...
