To clarify a couple of points and to equip us to discuss the falsehoods being spread about Bernie.

1. About the "NRA support." Bernie was campaigning against an opponent. The NRA also campaigned against the opponent. If someone argues that Bernie accepted NRA money, ask them how much, when and remind them that Hillary has been accepting millions from billionaires and has Superpacs.

Bernie, if you remember, sought a restraining order some time ago to prevent a Superpac from supporting his campaign.

If someone claims that the NRA supported Bernie's campaign ask them when, how much they gave Bernie and just what happened.

2. There is a rumor that Bernie was not a supporter of gay marriage because Bernie said that gay marriage was a state issue.

Traditionally, in our law, marriage was a state issue, and then a marriage entered into in one state under the Full Faith and Credit provision in the Constitution had to or pretty much had to be recognized by other states.

Some states recognize common law marriage. Some don't. A few states recognized gay marriage before the Supreme Court decision. The rules about marriage differ from state to state. California, for example, is a community property state. Some other states adhere more to he common law on the division of property between a man and wife. You can call that states rights if you will. It is legal tradition.

Thus, traditionally, as Bernie pointed out earlier, marriage was a state issue, not a federal one.

Bernie opposed the DOMA.

If someone says that Bernie opposed gay marriage, ask them to prove it because they are misunderstanding what Bernie said about marriage being a state issue. It used to be considered pretty much a state issue. He was right.

There is no contradiction between saying that marriage is a state issue and supporting gay marriage. They are two separate opinions about two separate independent issues. Logically, there is no contradiction there. Utterly none.

I know this is complicated and you have to take my word for it, but put the burden on the person asserting these falsehoods to prove they are true. PM me if you have a problem with it.

They're desperate, and will become even more unhinged as HRH drops further. We all remember '08....

but it falls on deaf ears. Seriously, it is a symptom of cult of personality. All reason, all logic is gone. The only thing that matters is protecting your demigod and it doesn't matter the cost, including loss of your own intellectual integrity. It's interesting that some of these guys are long-time DUers who I knew leaned conservative but, until recently, never would I have relegated them to delusional status. It's kind of a weird thing to watch, actually.
