My Turn: The time has come for real change

(Posted on Bernie's facebook page an hour ago - he has not given up and neither should we!!!)

We are a much greater nation because these presidents took on powerful special interests and acted on behalf of the American people. That’s what we have to do today.

by Sen. BERNIE SANDERS For the Monitor - Oct 21, 2015

The American people understand that our current economic system is rigged, and that our campaign finance system is corrupt. They know that while the very rich get much richer, millions of Americans work longer hours for lower wages, and we have the highest rate of childhood poverty of almost any major country on Earth.

In the last 30 years there has been a massive redistribution of wealth in the United States. Unfortunately, it has gone in the wrong direction. Trillions of dollars have flowed from the pockets of working families into the bank accounts of the top 1 percent. Meanwhile, billionaires and large corporations continue to exploit tax loopholes their lobbyists created, while Republican presidential candidates fight for even more tax breaks for the people who need them the least.

Now is the time for bold action to rebuild our disappearing middle class. Now is the time to protect the most vulnerable members of our society – the elderly, the disabled and the children. Now is the time to demand that the wealthiest people in our country and the largest corporations accept their responsibilities as Americans and pay their fair share of taxes ...

then they are less interested in watching a hearing..one that lasts all day.

The bump will happen then we will start again, and hit harder.

you can imagine what he thinks about my socialist ideas.

But he does listen and when I brought up the hearing he had no idea what I was talking about. We talked about it here on DU but I don't think the average voter will know about it.

He did however know that Bernie would be on Colbert and stayed up to watch.

I love it.

Bernie has been on the budget committee. He knows where to find the money to fund his proposals.

That is what will mean that Bernie wins and Hillary loses.

Hillary thinks she can convene a committee to find money for her. It does not work that way. It never will.

Bernie knows where the money is to fund the programs we need to reset the balance in our society that is lopsided in favor of the wealthiest of the wealthy on the planet.

personally I think some people should adhere to Bernie's ethics when it comes to reading Hillary's mind and predicting her behavior. I don't think you would like it if we said that if Bernie gets elected he will propose legislation that will never be passed, considering we will probably have a republican House and republican Senate. And then Bernie will cave to the opposition and pass....

She says what she will do.

She also said in an interview that if we elect her she will deal with things.

...I will no longer be a Democrat. My Party will have left me behind.

This primary election is a fight for the soul of this Party, period.

More people in this Party need to understand what the third way is and exactly who its supporters are, it will open a LOT of eyes.

did to this country and Bill Clinton wasn't far behind him with NAFTA.

I am just old enough that my parents belonged to unions in their factories & we kids helped paint strike signs.

With Obama we at least slowed down the Bush/Cheney (PNAC) war machine, but there is so much to be done to make opportunities accessible to people in this country again. We are transforming into a 3rd world country with a very wealthy elite class and everyone else making less than 30K per year.

That is why I am actively supporting Bernie. I am not interested in Hillary's neo-lib program.
