Biden Still Leads Dems In PA; Trump In Trouble

PENNSYLVANIA - Joe Biden continues to be the top choice for the Democratic presidential nominee in Pennsylvania, while President Trump faces an uphill battle to once again win a state he carried by 44,000 votes in 2016.

That's according to the results of a new Franklin & Marshall College poll released Thursday that's a snapshot of Pennsylvania voter preferences taken during Trump's impeachment trial. The Lancaster County-based school conducted the poll from Jan. 20-26.

Biden was favored by 22 percent of poll respondents. That's down from the 30 percent the he received in an October survey, but the Scranton native still enjoys a comfortable lead over the other Democrats in the race.

that trump will win in 2020. He says the economy/stock market is too good and he sees lot of people supporting trump.

Well, yeah, but he is high end 1%'r and I reminded him you have to be in the stock market to benefit from it. He and I have pretty good 401k's, but a lot of people our age have less than $20k in total savings, and nothing in the market.

He still doesn't see it. He will vote blue, but he seeing red.

Let's hope he is wrong.

The one and only issue is Trump and how his rampant corruption, racism and misogyny makes him unfit for office.

Everything else is secondary to that.

to see different people's perspectives depending on what kind of bubble they live in. It is also disheartening to know there are people who will vote based primarily on their bank account and stock portfolio. Besides being terribly self-centered, it is also shortsighted, being the economy tends to do much better under Democrats than republicans and this "strong economy" will not last.

I've seen this posted around on Facebook and in comments, about how much Trump has done for the economy and the stock market has done SOOOOO well! I just roll my eyes, but is there any truth to it? Has Trump really done anything to help the economy, or is he just riding the Obama wave? Didn't 401ks go up in value during the Obama years? Didn't the economy grow even better during the Obama years?

The problem is that this can't be reduced to a sound bite or bumper sticker. I've tried - explaining that the US economy has many, many parts, and it has an inertia all its own. It takes a long time to make it move in one direction or another. I also wonder if some of the financial regulations that were passed during the Obama years have made the economy stronger.

Of course, to the true MAGA believers, nothing existed before Jan. 2017. They act like Trump inherited an economy in free fall and "saved" it, even though the economy was doing well at the end of Obama's term. Maybe eye-rolling is the best I can do!

That isn't a rational way to judge the economy these days. All independent indicators point to the economy being on the brink of a major reset; only gov't numbers don't seem to align. Of course, I give zero trust that the gov't numbers aren't being cooked.

The market is up because a lot of money flowed into it as a result of the tax cuts. I don't think stocks are reflecting the underlying health of companies at this point. But the money is going to go somewhere, and with interest rates being barely non-zero there is really only place to put it.

primary today, I would vote for:
