Democratic Primaries

Elizabeth Warren.
Among the sometimes leaders in the primary race, she's my definite second choice. Why? Because I think she could win in November if she became the nominee. As long as Joe Biden is in the race, he gets my vote, because I think he's the most likely to beat Trump. But, Elizabeth Warren is next in line for me.
Why not Bernie Sanders? Because he is a polarizing candidate, and we don't need a polarizer in this election. We need a uniter. Warren would be better at that than Bernie.
What about policies? Frankly the policies put forward by any of the primary candidates are way down on my list of things to base a vote on. If elected, any President in this country can only propose things. Congress has to pass measures and fund them. So, a candidate who proposes ideas that can't get through Congress will have to rethink. Elizabeth Warren would do that. Bernie Sanders would just shake his finger at Congress and keep pushing for his plans.
What about age? Well, all of the leading candidates are in their 70s, actually. The younger ones aren't among the leaders, so I don't think that is going to be a factor, really.
What about "she's a woman?" So what? I don't care about the sex or gender of the President, and neither should you.

(53,795 posts)... normally we Democrats tend to get more divided. But for me, who wanted from the get-go not to have Sanders or Biden as our nominee, the more I'm getting comfortable with really anybody at the top of our ticket.

(10,811 posts)Warren was third on my list then jumped to second when Kamala Harris dropped out. Still feel Biden is the stronger candidate for the General but I'd vote for Elizabeth Warren as my second choice.
And you're right in my estimation: Warren would be a uniter where Sanders would not. The country has had enough of 'my way or the highway' governance. We need someone who can heal, restore and move us forward while being pragmatic and level-headed.

(146,192 posts)than most people do. For me, it's about winning that office and dragging other Democrats a long on the coattails. Presidents propose, Congress disposes.
At least that's how it's supposed to work.

(628 posts)cause he is most likely to beat Trump yet Warren is your 2nd choice who is behind Bloomberg, Pete, Sanders in better chance to beat Trump.
Not sure I understand the logic
Then there is the Bernie is "polarizing candidate" yet the reason Warren started dropping in the polls is because she is polarizing on her views.
Do not get me wrong. I love Warren and if I could wave a magic wand she might be my President of choice. Just cant get my hands around your logic.
Oh and if she wins the Presidency then the Dems lose a senate seat. Just thought I throw that out there.
