What is the proper way to criticize a democratic candidate on this forum?

Suppose I find a news-article about a democratic primary-candidate, showing that he/her/they stole a baby's pacifier.
Just this one candidate.
This news-article would make people less likely to vote for him/her/them but does NOT contain information that would make people more likely to vote for another Democrat instead.

Can I post that this person stole a pacifier from a baby or would that be "bashing a democratic figure"?

If posting that a democratic primary-candidate stole a baby's pacifier were to count as "bashing a democratic figure", then what other avenues would I have to present this information on DU? Or is such information in general not allowed on DU during primary-/election-season?

How could I criticize a Democrat for stealing a baby's pacifier without that counting as "bashing a democratic figure?"

primary today, I would vote for:

Then ask more questions:

When did it happen, 50 years ago or 10 years ago or last month?

Did the candidate take the pacifier away from a younger sibling when he was 3 years old, or did he take it last week at a campaign event?

If the incident was recent, why did it happen? Was the baby his or someone else's that he knew? Did the candidate take the pacifier because he thought the baby was choking or because the pacifier had gotten dirty and he wanted to protect the baby? Did he take his own baby's pacifier away because he was trying to wean the baby away from it? Did he take the pacifier away from a stranger's baby with no warning and no explanation?

Is the incident relevant to the candidate's policies, his attitude towards babies or his personality in general? Did it clearly demonstrate either a moral failing or an attempt to protect?

Before posting a report of an incident that looks superficially like "bashing" or that carries a tendentious headline suggesting something unflattering, find out what really happened and why. Include all relevant information, positive and negative. Consider the possibility that the incident was not what it seemed. UThere may be circumstances where taking away a baby's pacifier is a good thing.

I'm getting so many jury requests and I don't know how to discuss the pros and cons of a candidate without it considered bashing by someone. I am tempted to opt out of any of the "bashing" complaints.

Also - Sanders is an issue with me. Is it bashing to state that he was not a Democrat but is now running as a Democrat? Those alerts show up often. He bashes Democrats so I will be opting out of juries for posts about him.
