As I read Jim Jordan's complaint that the Bragg complaint against him "attempts to

obstruct our oversight function", it occurred to me that "oversight" is the MAGA party's primary goal.

Thet want to "oversee" who we love, how we worship, women's health decisions, teen girls' menstrual cycles, what fuel we use, what cars we drive, what books we read and---most importantly---whose vote REALLY counts.

There are no "good" MAGA policies.

If I drop a donut, but quickly pick it up----

---that counts as one "squat", right?

( apologies to admins for erroneously posting this in GD )

Rachel Maddow has often advised: "Don't mind what people SAY; watch what they DO".

It occurs to me that while a lot is being SAID daily about how mentally unstableTrump is, how much he lies and how many outrageous crimes he's committed, what is being DONE about all that has yet to provide any real remedy or relief.

It is not that nothing is being done; it's just that "we the people" are an impatient lot and we hunger for justice.

"Justice delayed---"

Why in hell should anyone spend all that time and money studying law when Wikipedia is all one needs

today to be a landmark decision writing federal JUDGE?

Just ask Judge Kaczmarek.

WHATEVER your personal feelings lead you to believe a decision MUST say, ol' Wiki will provide you things called "surveys" written by "someone" who claims expertise in---whatever. If you base a watershed decision based on what you read on the internet tubes, who can question that?

Meanwhile, I've opened up a brain surgery shop after reading up on these head fixes for SEVERAL HOURS! I have all the necessary power tools and a very comfortable recliner on which you can relax while I employ my new skull skills.

Walk-ins welcome.

As a public service, here's a "MAGA to American English" translator.

(inspired by DUer Nance Gregg's recent OP in which she explained that, in MAGAspeak, "Soros-backed Democrat" means "this Democrat is backed by a JEW!"

"Our thoughts and prayers are with you" means "So, your ( fill in blank ) was just killed in another mass shooting. Tough shit!"

"Make America Great Again" means "Women should not vote or work outside the home if married, Jim Crow was a great system and queers should be deported or 'fixed' ".

"Second Amendment rights" means "the right to carry any firearm you can lift, fully loaded, ANYWHERE you want and to use it against anyone who makes you 'feel oogy' ".

"A jury of your peers" means "twelve white men who voted for Trump".

"The Republican Party platform" means "whatever Mr. Trump wants today".

"Fair unrigged election" means--- Oh, hell! No need to translate that, amiright?

A modest proposal for anyone with influence on a major corporate employer:

Make it known---publicly and loudly--- that DeSantis's "New College of Florida", a proposed bastion of extreme right-wing craziness, will not be the alma mater of ANY of their employees. Adding a few comments like "We support our American democracy and those who don't would not mesh with our business policies" would help drive home the point and be much appreciated by the "decent majority.

I thought at first no foot had trod

Where this spring's purple violets nod
But, then again, in centuries past
A native hunter may have passed
And paused to drink their beauty in
Had looked and smiled then looked again
In spirit I am that man's kin

Like him, I must be on my way
Like him, my duties fill my day
I turn to where my loved ones wait
And think perhaps some future date
Another will gaze in reverent awe
And wonder if I stopped and saw
And, like him,---- stood in reverent awe

As someone born and raised in a small rural area, I believe I am qualified to comment on

the "right-to-life" zealots who I have been compelled to rub shoulders with.

They are world-record hypocrites whose insecurity motivates them to furiously wave their "Save the Babies!" banners to advertise just how "good", how "righteous", how "God-approved" they are.

These "good Christians" who coo so lovingly about the "tiny children" they supposedly cherish have no problem with snarling their contempt and hatred for us "baby killers" and wishing us "early deaths".

They do not care if BORN babies go hungry or cold or homeless or die of preventable diseases, but they will self-righteously watch a woman die rather than abort a wad of cells that they would not recognize if it was splattered on their windshield.

Welcome to this "Godless heathen's" world.

"Normalization", as it now flourishes in much of our daily political "news" coverage, is

gradually making previously abhorrent words and actions "just the way things are".

If someone proposes decapitation as the penalty for shoplifting, but "compromises" and agrees to "only" severing one hand, today's normalizers would accept that with a few "tsk-tsks" and looks of resignation.

"It could have been worse!" does not render an abomination "Okay".

I am left to ask, loudly, "WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO PISS US OFF?"

This post was inspired by hearing a televised discussion about how "maybe" some Republican like Chris Christie or Tim Scott could, not disown or criticize Trump, but "build on" the things he did.

Excuse me all to hell, but this amounts to saying that MORE racism, religious bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, --- MORE FASCIST ASSHOLERY!--- is just what may "save" the GOP and, therefore, America.

This crap will NEVER be "Okay"!
