Scarborough: Christie's "Ship Has Sailed" & "Nobody's going, 'Oh, we got to get Jeb"

Big-money GOP donors are reluctantly leaning toward former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for president in 2016, said talk show host Joe Scarborough.

"The whispers are out there. You hear it among top (Republican National Committee) donors. There is not an excitement. I'll be really honest with you. Nobody's going, 'Oh, we got to get Jeb,'" Scarborough said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Monday.

Donors are eying Bush because they see him as the only nominee who could beat presumptive Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, Scarborough maintained. He said contenders like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz weren't considered viable against the former secretary of state.

................

"I haven't talked to one that thinks Chris Christie can [win]. You know what? In the eyes of the big Republican donors, that ship has sailed," he said.

UN REPORT: "Nobody on this planet is going to be untouched by the impacts of climate change"

Global warming dials up our risks, UN report says
'Nobody on this planet is going to be untouched by the impacts of climate change,' chairman says

Global warming is driving humanity toward a whole new level of many risks, a United Nations scientific panel reports, warning that the wild climate ride has only just begun.

"Nobody on this planet is going to be untouched by the impacts of climate change," Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change chairman Rajendra Pachauri said in a Monday news conference.

Twenty-first century disasters such as killer heat waves in Europe, wildfires in the United States, droughts in Australia and deadly flooding in Mozambique, Thailand and Pakistan highlight how vulnerable humanity is to extreme weather, says a massive new report from a Nobel Prize-winning group of scientists released early Monday.

Two Christian SC Senators Block Third Grader’s State Fossil Proposal Because Jesus

Earlier this year eight-year-old Olivia McConnell wrote her state representatives to suggest that since South Carolina doesn’t currently have a state fossil, it should be given one!

Ridgeway and Johnson both filed bills- H.4482 and S.854-to make the mammoth the official state fossil. The bill would amend the 1976 code on state emblems to include the Columbian Mammoth as the state’s first official fossil.

...................................

“It makes me feel really good,” she said. “It’s exciting,” Olivia said after hearing that the lawmakers are taking her request seriously.

................

Unfortunately, many parties have a turd floating in the punch bowl, and this is one of them–two turds, to be exact. They look like this:

Fair, who has compared the President to Osama Bin Laden, helped to block funding for a rape crisis center, called climate change a hoax, and blocked evolution from the state’s science standards, saying “I don’t have a problem with teaching theories. I don’t think it should be taught as fact,” stood up for Biblical representation in the state fossil–after all, what’s science without Jesus?

Bryant proposed an amendment to the bill to include a passage from Genesis explaining the Biblical creation of life–because why not?

“I think it’s a good idea to designate the mammoth as the state fossil, I don’t have a problem with that. I just felt like it’d be a good thing to acknowledge the creator of the fossils,” Bryant told the Daily Beast.

Former George W. Bush aide rips Jeb Bush for ‘kissing the ring’ of billionaires

perfect timing?

.....................

During a Sunday panel segment on ABC’s This Week, host George Stephanopolous noted that many potential 2016 candidates like former Gov. Jeb Bush, Gov. Scott Walker, Gov. John Kasich and Gov. Chris Christie had already met with Adelson.

“I think it’s ridiculous that these candidates for president are trumping out to Las Vegas to go kiss the ring of a billionaire casino owner,” Dowd said. “And they think that’s somehow going to help them get elected president.”

“I think money matters so much less than your own capacity as a candidate,” he continued. “What is your message? What’s your vision for the country.”

“They would be much better off spending time back where they live — instead of flying to Las Vegas — and figuring out what’s their message, what’s their vision, and how are they going to covey that to the American public.”

"The French Aristocracy Never Saw it Coming Either"

SUN MAR 30, 2014 AT 11:26 AM PDT

...............Unless, the Democrats make this election one between a progressive vision for our country and the one Republicans have been running on since Ronald Reagan took office, they will lose seats in the Senate and they will not regain a majority in the House. The Republican base will turn out this Fall. But will enough people turn out for Democrats, especially young people? What are Democrats offering them that will make not only a short term improvement in their lives but will also give them hope for their future? I don't believe most people turn out to vote in an off year election simply because a party claims it is the lesser of two evils. Dems need to energize those voters, make them into believers in the Democratic Party's cause, not put them to sleep with endless bable about deficits and debt relief or other debates in which young people are not invested. All that will do is make them feel their vote is worthless, regardless of the R or D beside the name on the ballot.

The longer the Democratic Party, as a whole, is content to waffle on the fundamental issues of our times, the less likely they are to convince the young voters they need to win elections to show up at the polls. Ask yourself what does the Democratic Party stand for? Then ask yourself if the principles and policies they propose offer any hope to the great mass of voters that electing Dems will make a positive difference in their lives? Right now, I believe most voters would answer that last question "no," and that would include many people who will make the effort to vote and pull the switch in November for the Democratic ticket.
