Eat a Red Apple Day The stores are still bursting with apples, fresh from the harvest.
A few of the varieties you will see year round, because they either store well or are brought in from other parts of the world throughout the year. Other varieties, though, won't store long even in commercial storage, so time is running out to have one of them this season.
In case you're tempted to bend the rules a bit and have several Red Apples -- say, in an apple pie -- the idea of the day is probably to eat a fresh apple out of hand, because fresh-eating apples tend to store less well than cooking apples.
Make it a point today to treat yourself to a Red Apple that you don't see year round, or to introduce yourself to a new one that you haven't met before. http://www.cooksinfo.com/eat-a-red-apple-day

National Meth Awareness Day Methamphetamine also known as Meth, Crystal, Crank and Speed is a highly addictive central nervous system stimulant. Chronic use can lead to paranoia, hallucinations and violent behavior. Long-term use and/or high dosages can lead to toxic psychosis, stroke, heart attack and death.
In an effort to raise awareness about the growing epidemic of people addicted to Meth and the dangers associated with it, The Meth Project Foundation was established in 2005 by Thomas M. Siebel chairman of First Virtual Group.
The Meth Project is a large-scale prevention program aimed at reducing Meth use through public service messaging, public policy, and community outreach. Central to the program is a research-based marketing campaign and community action programs designed to communicate the risks of Meth use. https://go2asap.com/blog/2011/11/november-30th-national-meth-awareness-day

EASY EGGNOG PIE
My husband loves eggnog. Or nog as he usually refers to it as. I am pretty sure its why I can get him to do the grocery shopping easily in late fall, because hes stalking the dairy department for eggnog. Eggnog is take it or leave it for me, its more the texture than the flavor that just isnt my thing. The flavor I like, the bordering on shake like consistency, not so much. While I was making a chocolate pie this weekend, it dawned on me that replacing the milk with eggnog in a vanilla pie would result in a super easy eggnog pie.
A warning, this is rich. Well, I mean, its made with eggnog, which is basically like drinking cream, so yeah, rich. You could totally cut back on some of the eggnog and replace it with milk. Oh, also one thing to pay attention to the premade graham cracker pie crust my eggnog store searching husband picked up, was a bigger pie crust two extra slices or something like that. While thats great and all, pie crusts are kind of a standard to some extent so a jumbo one can mess with your recipes. I was a little short on filling for this, and sort of pushed more of it towards the outer edge. Just something to pay attention to if you are buying a ready made crust.

A Nationwide Outpouring Of Support For Tiny Ferguson Library
The Ferguson Public Library is just a block away from the center of demonstrations at the Ferguson Police Department. As we've reported, when violent protests this week led to the burning of more than a dozen businesses and the uncertainty caused schools to close, the library stayed open.
It has become a quiet refuge for adults and children alike in this St. Louis suburb. And the nation has taken notice. The outpouring of support for the library has reached "orders of magnitude" more than any previous amount, says library Director Scott Bonner.
He's the only full-time librarian there and he started his job in July, just weeks before the town became an internationally known name. Bonner says the donations may allow him to hire another person to help.
For community leaders and business owners, the library has become a place to convene.

Today's Holidays November 28
National French Toast Day We propose a toast to National French Toast Day! While dedicating Nov. 28 to the cinnamony-sweet breakfast treat is a recent tradition, French toast has been around a lot longer than you might think. Turns out fourth-century Romans enjoyed dipping stale slices of bread in milk before frying them up in oil, just as we do today. In other words: Here's another "French" dish that, just like fries, didn't originate in France (where French toast is actually called pain perdu, or "lost bread" .So, next time you have some stale bread lying around, do some delicious recycling with the recipes below. Whether you use sourdough, challah, baguette or even wheat bread, youll save that loaf from an early death... and your taste buds (not to mention kids) certainly wont complain. http://www.today.com/food/8-sweet-recipes-celebrate-national-french-toast-day-1C7304517

National Bavarian Cream Pie Day National Bavarian Cream Pie Day puts the spotlight on one of those rare no-bake desserts that's surprisingly gourmet in presentation and taste. A sweet, cooked custard is poured into a pie shell, and chilled into a durable mold. Then it's topped usually with chocolate sauce, chocolate shavings, and lots of whipped cream. Then it's eaten--every bit of it, typically! http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/articles/view/351/1/National-Bavarian-Cream-Pie-Day.htmlThanksgiving Day
