We tape Coronation Street from the Newfoundland CBC station, available on cable in Ontario. That way we get it taped early and can watch it whenever without commercials. Probably not a whole lot of people do this, or at least did it and then hadn't changed the channel.
The co-vivant turned on the TV around 7 pm yesterday evening, and there he was, watching Newfoundland CBC with the Newfoundland election results, since the polls had closed. (Too bad; we got a little overly encouraged by them.) The digital box was still set for that channel, and the transmission had not cut out.
I came home just after, and watched a bit and tried to figure this out. I didn't realize he'd just left it on the Corrie channel. But the transmission was crap, all choppy picture and sound, so he tried to switch it to the Nova Scotia channel. No go. And bingo. We lost Newfoundland too. So we went and voted.
Have to see whether this trick works next year!
