The shoes4souls drive is a sustained giving campaign in Haiti. Soles4souls have longtime distribution partners in many parts of Haiti and the Dominican Republic who can deliver the relief packages safely and securely over land without using the main port or airport. They also distribute food, water, medical supplies, cleaning products, baby products and clothes, as well as shoes. They say their relief efforts will continue long after the news cameras leave and people begin to forget about the tragedy. They are committed to providing free supplies throughout 2010 for everyone who needs their assistance.

I believe the Prime Minister, Governor General, Red Cross, Salvation Army, World Vision, Presidents Obama, Clinton and Bush are attempting to steer “individuals” away from sending their own care packages that will clog the airport and sea port and they in no way meant to disparage the good work of a long established charity organization such as SolesforSouls.

Besides the fact that this is an established aid agency with a distribution network in Haiti many Canadians cannot afford to give money so they can donate shoes.

Money is there in seconds. No mail, no ships, no planes.

Everybody can afford to give money. Even a loonie helps.

4. Do you read? Souls4soles has an established network in Haiti. They are not
going to ship shoes next week. You are totally out of trouch with the levels of poverty in Canada if you think everyone has money to donate. The fact that you think that everyone has a dollar to give speaks volumes.

5. I don't care. Send money instead.
Every natural disaster area ends up with warehouses full of useless second hand clothing. They take it out and burn it.

And yes, everyone in Canada is capable of donating money.

You seem to have confused the two countries.

6. Your level of ignorance about poverty in Canada is frankly shocking.
Its obvious you don't interact with the poor.

This post is not suggesting people not give money. This is another way to help.

7. So be shocked. But donate money instead of
used clothing or shoes. It'll just get burned.
