Vancouver protesters force Harper to scrap appearance
Vancouver protesters force Harper to scrap appearance

Prime Minister Stephen Harper was unable to enter a Vancouver Chinese community centre to make a scheduled appearance Wednesday because protesters had surrounded the building and sealed its doors.

Harper was to have visited the centre to see a rehearsal for Chinese new year festivities next week.

This was about Insite, but I suspect the Games will be worse.

Sorry to be posting so much about Harper, but it makes me chuckle, it do, it do.

6. what a piece of shit that one is

Saw it last night. Would have been nice if Libby had just come out and said "you are lying". But she was in the position of having to prove a negative - the doors weren't chained - and isn't omniscient.

A not totally coherent time-line kind of report of it all:

http://www.cbc.ca/politics/insidepolitics/2010/02/postpmprotestspinwatch-so-what-the-heck-happened-in-vancouver.html
ONE LAST UPDATE: Just to reiterate what I tweeted a few moments ago, given the timeline, it seems as though it would have been entirely possible for the chains to have been removed by police before Libby Davies arrived, or without her having been aware of them. At the same time, Dimitri Soudas was correct in stating that, according to the Vancouver Police Department, the protesters may well have temporarily blocked the exits.

Were the doors chained or not? Anybody know?

If they were ... who cares ... ? Given ready access to big cutting tool things, which I assume police have handy, and multiple entrances/exits to/from the building, anybody who claimed to see such an action as anything other than symbolic would be ... a lying piece of shit.

4. WTG to the protesters!
That's what should happen everywhere the man appears, he is such a coward it wouldn't take overwhelming numbers, lol.

5. ...awesome.
Now if only I could find some way to force Harper to scrap all of his public appearances in my hometown and place of residence: Ottawa. :D
