Online BC Study

I just signed up for this and thought others here might be interested. They will compensate you $50 for particpating. Here's the info:

We are currently inviting breast cancer patients to participate in an internet interview. If you qualify and participate in the study, you will receive $50 for your time. The study takes about 20-25 minutes.

We have a few preliminary questions at the onset, and then we will direct you to the internet site so you can do the study at your convenience.

The study will be conducted from September 27th through October 30th.

It was about a 10 minute survey. Seemed to be weighted towards Herceptin information and advertising. When I called they took demographic info and gave me a password to access the study. We'll see how long it takes to receive the check and I could certainly use it right about now.

I took part in a U of PA BC study last year via mail. It was extremely detailed and about online support and cancer info and I was paid $40 for it. I'm getting to be an old hand at these surveys :-)

Cochrane Collaboration - they educate and involve consumers in doing systematic reviews of medical research. I don't know if they pay, but they are a great opportunity to get involved in evaluating research (they do a lot of reviews of breast cancer research).

Also, DoD Breast Cancer Research Program has a good consumer review program; they allow consumers to participate on panels to review research funding proposals. If you are chosen to participate on a panel, they will give you a stipend and cover your travel and lodging. I did it one year, participating as a consumer reviewer on an immunology panel reviewing breast cancer research proposals.
