Hi, everyone!
I hope this forum is successful. I was diagnosed with BC in January, and finished my last round of chemo the end of April. Now, I'm trying to encourage my hair to grow! I've been very encouraged by the information I've received on BC websites, and post on certain forums. If anyone knows of any BC sites they like, let me know. Thanks!

1. Hi!
Glad to hear you're doing well.

Some of the good breast cancer web sites are

Susan Love, MD

http://www.susanlovemd.com/

She has one of the best books on breast cancer, also.

If you want to become involved in breast cancer advocacy, here's a good group to join

http://www.natlbcc.org/

But mostly, take your time to heal and recover. The first year after treatment can be a little tricky, but you'll do fine.

2. From a fellow BC'er
:hi: and congrats on getting through the chemo! I wish I could tell you something on how to get your hair to giddyup and grow, but mine is slow in coming back. Had my last chemo in Jan and my hair is still no longer than about 2 inches. It looks skunkish--white around the edges and dark in back and on top.

If you are Her2neu positive a great site is Her2support. If you want info on alternative avenues I've found the Amazon forum well worth joining.

Be kind to yourself and give yourself time for healing, body and soul. Check in and let us know how you're doing.

3. Thanks, kiddo
I really appreciate the info. I guess hair grows back at 1/4 inch a month, and after decades of coloring, my hair is coming back salt & pepper. I'll have to wait to see how this will turn out. At least my brows and eyelashes are starting to come in now, also.+

5. Hi there!
What BC sites do you go to? I think these cancer sites are really helping a lot of people beat cancer more easily and comfortably. The exchange of information is incredible, and people find out all sorts of things about treatment options and dealing with procedures that they wouldn't have known about any other way.

Yeah, could you post some of the breast cancer resources that you have found helpful here?

~*Peace*~ and congratulations on making it through chemo.

6. breastcancer.org is my favorite.
Susan G. Komen's site is great (komen.org),
smilingwomen.org, nationalbreastcancer.org. Another good one is circusofcancer.org, especially for friends and family of the patient.

7. Here are some good ones
Edited on Thu Jul-06-06 07:44 PM by OzarkDem
http://www.susanlovemd.com/ - Susan has a lot of good up to date info in an easy to read format.

http://www.y-me.org/ Y-Me Breast Cancer Organization als has a lot of good peer to peer info and support

http://www.lbbc.org/ Living Beyond Breast Cancer - a lot of good survivorship information and they have regular conference calls you can participate in

and my favorite - the group I belong to - the National Breast Cancer Coalition - if you want to get active

http://www.natlbcc.org/ - check out their online breast cancer care guide

I also agree, breastcancer.org is a very good site to learn about coping with treatment, etc.

Almost forgot an excellent resource - MAMM magazine
