invoke the 14th Amendment. Damn the torpedoes - full speed ahead. And any attempt by the Dems to try to impeach him for doing so - he would reply - Bring it On.
This is the difference between Bush/Repugs and Obama/Dems.

1. But it would never get to this point... |
|
the repubs would not demand spending cuts to raise the debt ceiling if a repub is in the WH...they only care about deficits when a dem is in the WH!

5. Why would Obama invoke the 14th a week ahead of time? Why would he tip his hand now? |
|
Of course Bush would have a conservative Supreme Court to back up his decisions.
There is, by no means, universal agreement that the 14th Amendment applies no matter how much it is trumpeted on DU and elsewhere.

10. Nobody Said To Invoke It A Week Ahead Of Time...... |
|
I'm just saying that if need be - Bush would do it and Obama looks to be hesitant.

11. You "assume" Bush would do it. You have absolutely no way of knowing. |
|
If Obama believes that it does not apply then he can in no way be accused of being hesitant. He has said he does not believe it does apply.

7. Of course he wouldn't. The SCOTUS already proved they would |
|
rubberstamp anything he did.

8. Dubya could count on SCOTUS to come to his rescue. Holder should've indicted Clarence Thomas |
|
when it was still possible to do so without the overwhelming appearance of partisan motives. Maybe, that's why he didn't.

Like pardoning Scooter Libby. It's hard to say on this one, but the republicans wouldn't do this to him and neither would the Dems.
