Militants have vowed to disrupt the national election and have launched continuous attacks on political targets in the run up to the vote.
The British media pool reports hundreds of uniforms are missing in Basra, Iraq's second largest city, and may be in the hands of insurgents. It says insurgents could use the uniforms to make it easier to slip through checkpoints.
Meantime, militants continue to attack polling centers around the country. Voting sites in at least eight cities have come under attack.
