9. The day Talisman bought Arakis the phony bombing mission
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 07:28 PM by teryang
...on the Khartoum "biological weapons" plant took place. Turned out the pharmaceutical plant produced infant formula among other things. Thereafter, the anti-slavery campaign began in a mid town manhattan office near Rockefeller Center whose object was to drive Talisman out of Sudan. State pensions funds were lobbied to dump Talisman shares, one of the most successful and well managed Canadian indepedents. Diversified in its international holdings and desirous of maintaining ethical standards they said fine and sold quickly to the Chinese. Their investigators found no evidence that pipeline revenues contributed to slavery or human rights abuses. The Sudanese government only had a 5 percent interest in the project and the oil wasn't even flowing yet.

Legislation against Sudan had previously blocked Occidental from buying the very attractive Arakis consortium interest. At the time, it was targeted to produce 185,000 barrels a day. The Chinese completed the one billion dollar pipeline and today the oil flows east instead of west.
