Which of the nine justices would side with him simply because they agree with him on the abortion issue? There's absolutely no basis for thinking that SCOTUS would overturn with his conviction. In fact, there's a 99.9% chance that they never even grant cert on the case, for a few reasons:

1) He's serving life in prison. SCOTUS reviews death penalty cases to make sure that everything is kosher, but they don't typically examine life sentences.

2) His guilt is unquestionable. He confessed to the murder.

3) There is no compelling constitutional issue here for SCOTUS to examine. He's not a juvenile, it's not a crual and unusual sentence, and there were no problems that we know of in jury selection.

No way does Roeder even win a date before the SCOTUS. I'd bet my life savings on this if I could at 1 to 1.
