Galloway hits back at US Iraqi oil fraud claims


MAVERICK MP George Galloway has challenged the US authorities to bring perjury charges against him so he can fly out to Washington and defend himself.

He was reacting angrily to a claim by the US Senate Committee which accused him of receiving oil money from Saddam Hussein that he lied under oath when he appeared before it. <snip>

They claim they have fresh evidence linking Mr Galloway and his estranged wife Dr Amineh Abu-Zayyad with Iraqi government oil vouchers. <snip>

But Mr Galloway said today: "I did not lie under oath in front of the Senate Committee. "I'm still willing to go to the United States and still willing to face any charge of perjury in front of that Senate Committee. "I'm demanding that they charge with me contempt and with perjury."
