19. And what if it results in a very big bounce for *?
I think maybe we ought to take our collective heads out of the sand and consider that this may indeed bolster *'s flagging support. The Dem candidates -- ALL OF THEM -- need to pay attention to this issue and address it for what it is. If they ignore it, or worse let * take the upper hand in it, they lose. And they lose big.

I was watching James Carville on S-Span when a friend called with the news that Saddam Hussein had been captured. She said she was totally depressed about it and was more or less giving up on politics.

But now is NOT the time to give up. Now is the time to fight even harder. Not by denying what may be the obvious -- that the GOP is going to play this for all it's worth and next week we'll have front-page pix of * standing over a prostrate Saddam -- but by FACING it and dealing with it.

Okay, we got Saddam. That was the objective, right? Now, let's turn Iraq over to the Iraqis, get out, and get home so we can deal with all the problems here: health care, jobs, the environment, etc., etc., etc.

Iraq was not the only item on the political agenda. * may have won this round, but the fight ain't over yet.
