...Jimmy Carter observes that there's plenty of racism still around and he's vilified by locals here...a black, female army reservist is beaten by a guy twice her size - called every name in the racist's handbook (with nobody intervening), and somebody posts on the local AJC Vent page that 'she probably was 'rude'in her comments which prompted his reaction' - and the paper published it. Hell, they might as well have said, 'that's what she gets for being 'uppity'.' This is Georgia in the year 2009...home of Martin Luther King, Jr...bigoted, greedy, hate-filled.
The only difference in the racism of 40 or 50 years ago is that back then whites openly espoused it, hell, they were even proud of it...today they deny it exists - same behavior, they just 'play the 'denial' card' and figure nobody'll do anything about it.
