Unfair to Dean


Joe Repya's Dec. 13 counterpoint was full of misleading, erroneous figures and right-wing AM-radio talking points.

President Bill Clinton raised pay for service members twice, over and above the normal annual increase. The current resident of the White House has cut combat and separation pay for our troops, as well as benefits for former service members.

Howard Dean will make America safer by actually fighting terrorism, unlike what is going on currently in Iraq and Afghanistan.

They left out, among other things, the part about this guy does not speak for all combat veterans, even though he seems to be the de facto "go-to" guy whenever an event occurs with a military context.
Also, they chopped off my last sentence saying this guy's 15 minutes were up. Hmph.
This is the guy who created and gave away "Support our Troops: Liberate Iraq" signs in the Twin Cities to counter all the "No War in Iraq - contact your congresspeople" signs.
