I think it was Lawrence O'Donnell who said that ultimately the people don't really trust the Democrats because they don't stand up and fight.
Why should the people think we'll stand up and fight for them when the head of the party throws a great guy like Jones under the bus.
At the 2005 rally on Capitol Hill urging that the Ohio electors be rejected by the Senate, there were all these stickers saying "Grow a Spine." The point was well taken. But you can't grow a spine and apparently the leadership can't even figure out that they need to look like they have a spine.
