You are a brilliant writer, and I'm glad to finally have the opportunity to tell you so. I've been impressed with your essays in the past, but with this one you really hit it out of the park. Maybe it's the timing; I don't know. America lost its soul some time ago. I'm not sure exactly when, at what moment in history. And yet right now, in the aftermath of the killing of Osama bin Laden, we seem to have reached a moment in our collective consciousness where we KNOW we have lost our soul. By "we" I mean most of America, maybe even some of those dim-witted rednecks you knew in the 1970s, those guys came to beat up on the hippies but stayed around to join them. Hopefully some of the teabaggers have reached that same point now, and are starting to get a clue who their real enemies are.

I'm glad you posted the link to your Facebook page, because I'm going to "like" it and become one of your fans as soon as I get done typing this. I mean officially one of your fans--I've been an unofficial one for some time now.
