Why is it that threads on the subject of Janet Jackson's boobs, the best heavy metal song title, Beavis and Butthead, and DVD rentals get so much more attention and reaction than the fact that a man, a man most likely innocent of the crime of slaughtering a family, will be put to death on Tuesday? People on this website pride themselves as being people high moral fibre and great sensitivity to the persecuted. They react with vitriol and venom to any thread that pertains to the abuse of animals (which they should), but don't have the time or interest to respond to a vile miscarriage of justice that just may end the life of an innocent man. I have posted twice on this issue, and one other DUer has posted once. I had a response of two DUers to one of my threads (thank you both), which was the e-mail that I sent to Ahnold. Otherwise, nothing. And the other poster had no answers at all.
Social responsiblity and humanity do not stop at issues that just affect or interest ourselves. Our humanity and social responsibility are judged by how we react to defend people who we don't even know, but who need our help in times of crisis. This is a state sanctioned murder of a man who is more than likely not guilty. The only surviving witness to the massacre says he is not the man who slaughtered his family.
Please people, for the love of whatever higher power you believe in, do something. We are all complicit in this man's murder if we don't at least try to do something. Maybe Kevin Cooper will die anyway on Tuesday, but at least maybe our response will alert the 'powers that be' that we are watching, we are paying close attention to what is happening in this country, and we will not allow state sanctioned murder to occur just to allow legal authorities to try to show that they are tough on crime and jack up their conviction rates. \
