The lunatic middle just says that we have to give up any hope of achieving any kind of fairness and equity in our society so we can "win".
What do we get if we win? A medal? Bragging rights?
If we have to give up fundamental elements of our philosophy to fight the right wing media machine, we are saying that they are legitimate. They are not. They are just in control right now. That's like saying Hitler was correct because his propaganda machine convinced most of the German people to support him.
I don't think because he was accepted as a leader by the majority of his population that he was right.
