That it sure would be nice to have an "inside guy" turn stool pidgeon on *. Colin Powell is the most likely candidate, imo.

Let's say he goes off, and no one pays attention. Rove will paint him to look like a loony and probably won't see any repercussions. On the other hand, let's say he gets taken seriously, and can provide evidence and testimony from others to back up his claims. He could conceivably become the next SecDef for Kerry. So the way it turns out, by quitting, Powell keeps his job.

One thing to consider: When Tenet resigned, people claimed this was because someone who worked for the Executive Branch couldn't testify against the administration. Now, not only is Tenet gone, but there are also a bunch of disgruntled, left-leaning spooks being let go. What do you suppose they know that could get Bush in trouble?

Are there any cabinet officials that may turn on *?

I see this exodus from Washington as a good thing. These are the people who will rat on the rats.
