There was a time when we used to laugh at what passed for "news" from the

old Soviet Union. They were all written in the most dreary prose,probably by the same copy cat editors at Pravda and Tass.They took their cues from the Soviet Commissars and nopbody believed a word they said.

Unfortunately, two decades later, the shoe is on the other foot although I suspect some of that same copycat drivel has been around for a long time in our media too. Now it has become a round the clock trivia peddling by kewpie doll clones giggling and spouting nonsense at even the most serious issues.

The result is near unanimity in the views of all newscasters or newswriters or op-ed columnists.Not one dissenting voice is heard among this thundering herd of rhinos.No sirreee, you tell us what to say, and we do it pronto!

On such servility do totalitarians feed.
