Was the U.S. sending Italy a warning?

I honestly wonder if the attack on the car containing the Italian journalist and the Security agents was a warning by the U.S. to Italy not to withdraw their troops? I tend to think the Bushites would have done something more sinister than that. All in all, the Italian people are more anti-American than ever after this incident.

Also, why does it seem like our armed forces seem so accident prone? You had a Korean girl run over by an Army truck a few years ago. Also, those Marine jets that sliced a cable car in Italy as well. Also don't forget the Canadian soldiers who were accidently fired on by U.S. jets in Afghanistan.
