At this point is has become clear to America that trusting this administration was a disastrous mistake. Across the board, the polls show that 2/3 of the country no longer support this war. One of the major factors leading to that disapproval is the ever present issue of torture.

Anyone that continues to support Bushco endorses their perverse torture policies by extension. America has clear laws against torture. Well, we did before Bushco began to twist and pervert them beyond recognition. Torture is explicitly listed as a war crime in international law. There is NO LEGAL basis for the ongoing torture of military detainees. It is roundly rejected at the international level because it represents a universally rejected and immoral practice. It is reprehensible and has been openly condemned as such.

90 Senators agree. The recent overwhelming passage of the funding bill with restrictions on torture is clear evidence of that. Torture has been rejected on a bi-partisan basis by all but the most extreme and morally indefensible.

News that the White House in the person of Dick Cheney is actively lobbying for a CIA exemption on these rules shows with crystal clarity that they endorse a policy that is openly rejected by the vast majority of political leaders, American citizens and members of the international community. Rejected because it is immoral.

These torture policies will be judged a far greater injustice than the internment of Japaneese Americans during WWII. It is a fantastically ugly blot on this country and it's reputation.

Now it is clear that there exists an extensive worldwide system of "black" facilities where this torture takes place outside of the jurisdiction of American law (because it is against our laws). The report was confirmed by Trent Lott yesterday with the added information that recently Republican senators were briefed on the network of torture facilities by Cheney himself.

The ongoing torture has done irreparable damage to our international reputation. Not just in the Mideast, but around the globe. Even in countries that have been our traditional allies, the ongoing torture is a source of disgust and anti-American sentiment. It does great harm to our moral standing in the world. We have traded moral authority for bombs and coercion. Bushco has decided it is better to be feared than loved. They are willing to act in violation of all accepted moral and legal norms to make us feared. That is a great failure of our international relations. It will haunt this country for decades or longer.

Put simply, this administration continues to exercise a policy of torture that is in violation of federal and international law. The policy qualifies them as war criminals. ANYONE that continues to support this administration are guilty as well. They have a perverted worldview where any wrong can be justified and any harm is worth the end result of making us feared.

The continued support of these policies and the administration that has implemented it makes it clear that these die hard bushbot, freepers are morally bankrupt, sick and twisted individuals. They are a black mark on our country. They are as guilty of these crimes as Bushco itself.

Freeps make me sick.

To hell with them and their morally bankrupt, black hearts.
