I will combine the various snippets of Howard blasting BFEE on today’s show. This is from
http://www.marksfriggin.com/news.htm#wed Howard said that there are reporters saying that this had nothing to do with what they were saying on the air, it all had to do with him saying they have to vote President Bush out of office. He said that Clear Channel has apparently gotten rid of anyone who says anything about getting Bush out of office. Howard said that he did say something about anal sex on the air last Tuesday but that's not why he was thrown off the air. He said that the FCC had nothing on him then.
Howard said he did some research on Clear Channel and their ties to George W. Bush. He said that he found out stuff about this guy Tom Hicks from Clear Channel and how they've had a lot to do with defending Bush. They banned the Dixie Chicks albums from all of their stations after they spoke out against Bush. There were other things that Howard read about the company. He had an article about how they hired this guy Michael Savage after he called a caller a Sodomite and hoped that he'd get AIDS and die. They had no problem hiring him for some reason.
Howard read another article (by Maureen Farrell of US News) about how much power he has and how Bush could lose the election after all of this stuff. Howard read that he had spoken out against Bush just 4 days before Clear Channel took him off the air. The reporter pointed out some of the stuff that Clear Channel has done over the years censoring people who speak out against Bush and all of that. Howard said he hates saying stuff like that because it sounds crazy. Howard read a couple of other things that show that Clear Channel just boots people from their company if they speak out against Bush.
Howard continued to read stories about Clear Channel and what other people are saying about the whole thing. Howard also pointed out that the FCC is run by Colin Powell's son and Clear Channel is tied to Bush. Howard said that he's heard that there is a case being prepared against him to get him kicked off of all of the Viacom stations. He said it's in the works so his days are numbered. Howard spoke out against Bush even more and said that this is the scariest thing ever and Bush has to be voted out of office. He said that even though we're still hearing the show now, it's just a matter of weeks before the FCC comes up with a list of things he's said that will force his company to fire him.
Howard said he had a lot more to read about this whole thing. He pointed out that John Kerry isn't saying anything in his favor either but it's better him than Bush. He said he didn't want to bore people with all of this stuff but it's really pissing him off. He said that he's going down in flames and he wants people to know why that is. Robin wondered if the press is going to pick up on this stuff and let people know. Howard said they'll just ignore it and laugh when they bring the story up in the news.
A listener called in and said that he used to work for Clear Channel and spoke out against Bush after the election and they eventually fired him and black listed him in every market. Howard said he would have called him crazy years ago but now he knows better. Howard said he hopes that John Kerry can continue and fight the good fight. He said he hopes he can win because that's his only hope.
Howard said he can't believe that he can't change his opinion about who he wants to vote for without getting kicked off the air. Howard had Nick Di Paolo come in after the phone call. He and Nick spent a minute talking about the whole censorship thing. Nick said it's not all republicans that are the root cause of this stuff.
Howard said that's true but right now the Bush administration is causing him problems and he can't vote for him again. He said that he's too angry. Nick said he didn't know that Howard had changed his mind about Bush before all of the Clear Channel stuff went down. Howard told Nick why he changed his tune and what that was all about.
Howard told Nick that it was sickening to him that Bush wasn't truthful about avoiding the Viet Nam war. He said that there were a bunch of other things that turned him off to the guy. Nick has his own issues and thinks that things have gotten a little too liberal lately so he can't be against Bush completely.
