57. Honestly, with No Flames
I'm for a lot of the things Kucinich is for, but he's not my candidate. It seems to me that some of his positions may come across as too far out to the general public - not because they're stupid, but because most people are so tired from working and getting through life they may not have the time and energy to put into researching what a candidate really means, and what that position really means to Mainstream USA. I don't think he's done a good job of that yet, and so far, the few statements that have gotten into the media really do sound ... far out. I think he needs to do a better job of saying what he means where ever he is, so the public just doesn't hear "transvestites on the Supreme Court" and "mind-control space weapons" and get distracted by it. I know the media doesn't always play fair, but his campaign knows that as well, and needs to get him "on message." I know the context of the two things I used as examples, but I'm interested in politics and have the time to pursue the context behind something that does sound initially dubious.

As for his personal appearance, I really don't think that would matter as long as his message is clearly heard. Then again, I could be willfully naive about that.

He's not my candidate because of some stands he's taken that I disagree with, but I won't go into that here. If his is the name on the ballot in 2004, though, I will be voting for him. At this point, I think it is more important that the next president not be Bush than just about anything else.
