I've seen it work magic on the sheeple a number of times. Just tell 'em you have a plan. Don't get into details. Just "I have a plan."

As for macho.... it only works in sports (using macho language). The theorem in geo-politics is 'Walk softly but carry a big stick'. Secret plans are a big stick that can't be questioned. Americans love secrets.
