12. I didn't know about the rascism either
until my Native American cousin opened up to me about her upbringing on the reservation, and how the white town kids used to call her the "N" word, among other things. She looks very Native (dark copper skin, long black hair, etc) and says that she spent most of her youth trying to look white. It's so sad; she's such a beautiful person-inside and out-it's just hard to imagine people treating her in such a despicable manner.
