8. To be honest, that question has troubled me
I want to emigrate, and Canada is my top pick. That it is the nearest English-speaking country helps, but I like that the country is committed to multiculturalism. I also like that on 9/11, the Canadian prime minister's reaction was to comment that we in the West had to be aware that our lifestyle is based on the exploitation of those in lesser developed countries. Wow. I think he may have apologized later (I know the US public went ballistic about it), but that he recognized that, thought we all should, and felt he could safely say so, that all says things about Canada that I wish could be said about the US.

But the neocons are playing from the Nazi handbook. Canada must just scream "Anschluss!" to them. I'm afraid to go there, get settled, and then have to move again. Or, worse, not move again. By that time, I'm sure the American borders will be closed to emigration and that's the first thing they'll do to the Canadian borders if they do seize control there.
