I'm surprised Grover Norquist and the "drown government" crowd hasn't thought of it. Let's privatize the armed forces. That's a big government program, right? Just think, we could have ArmyCorp, NavyCo, lots of corporations, they could bid for war contracts. The free market solves everything. Publicly traded, a place to put our newly available social security allotments. Soldiers could be like employees, with stock options. Competition in the defense industry would lower costs and create better warfare, all in the drive for greater profits. We all know the government can't run anything, it's all bloated with beauracracy, look at public schools and prisons, we've privatized those industries, now their lean and mean. So, let's get the government out of the military business and put it into the hands of private industry! Sometimes I suprise myself with such visions of clarity.
