12. abuse in prisons
I hear some say that they would rather him not get the death penalty because the prisoners would be more brutal to him. Sad that this may be true, but why are prisoners permitted to abuse other prisoners...it's kind of like...you broke the law so now you are going to a place where you can break the law...I know they are probably overcrowded, understaffed, etc, but I find it disgraceful. I have a friend in prison for a nonviolent charge and I worry what he will be like next year when he is released. How does it benefit society to allow criminals to be abused and then release them back into the world?
