More than 100,000 people have died, and they are still dying at the rate of 10,000/month, a large percentage of them children. The ongoing refugee crisis is in desperate need of funds to keep nearly a million people from starving to death.

It's not as jolting as 50,000 being wiped out in one day, but at least they didn't die at the hands of wantonly malevolent, genocidal marauders.
