6. FEMA told to concentrate ALL resources on FLA - forget rest of country,
or heads would roll at the Agency. Granted Florida needed lots of help and will for years to come - but there were disasters in other states which normally would have gotten a proportional share of FEMA assistance. Other regions were stripped of funds and emergency response personnel, which were sent to Florida. It wasn't Governor Bush who did a great job - it was FEMA. Jeb was the beneficiary of a brother in a tight political race. FEMA teams will be in Florida for the next two years - and I'm sure they are needed. The question is, what about disasters in other states in the next two years. I don't expect Bush to increase FEMA's budget to compensate for the needs of Florida. By the way, FEMA has hundreds of vacancies which are not being filled, and their funding has been stripped and diverted god-knows-where into Dept. of Homeland Security. If Florida had not been a key political state, it would not have gotten near the federal assistance which it received.
