"If you can't pull yourself up by the bootstraps, whatever happens to you is your own fault."

"When acts of Nature destroy real estate and populations, you should have anticipated it, so you probably deserved what happened to you."

"Why didn't you get insurance for something like this?"

This is compassionate convervatism at its worst.
