What motivates them to rate * bad news down
is their undying devotion to their chimperor.
If the story reflects badly on *, they throw a '1' on it to try to bury it at the bottom of the "In other news" links.
I believe some of them would do so even if the story involved * hacking their own mama to pieces with a Kitchen Magician.

Pretty disconcerting.
